Lessons from OR Manager 2025
What a breath of fresh air to land in 90-degree Anaheim for the OR Manager Conference—right as fall rain rolled in across much of the country.
These events never disappoint. They remind us just how much value OR leaders provide each other when they come together to share what’s working (and what isn’t) in surgical services.
Attendance was strong this year, even higher than last, which suggests travel budgets haven’t been cut. Interestingly, more attendees registered late—even day-of—which might signal broader uncertainty in the economy amid talk of tariffs, trade wars, and the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
A Standout Session
One of the highlights for me was Beth Bozzelli’s session on hiring and retaining OR leaders. My biggest takeaway: there’s a mentorship gap for emerging leaders once they’re promoted into the role.
Leiran Cornishand Patrel Nobles are helping bridge that gap by giving new leaders a platform through the New Leader Track, encouraging them to speak, share, and grow into their leadership voice.
Conversations That Matter
We also had the chance to connect over dinner with candidates and clients—real conversations about what’s working, what’s changing, and what keeps Directors of Surgical Services up at night.
Congratulations to the OR Manager team for another fantastic event. Here’s to next year in Savannah! 🌴
