Rory brings a wealth of experience in specialized surgical care, leadership in healthcare, and process improvement. With an impressive academic and professional background, Rory holds a BSN from Texas Tech University, an MPH from the University of Washington, and dual certifications in CCRN(A) and CNOR.
In her previous role as an OR Nurse and OR & SPD Manager in the US Army, Rory successfully led multiple initiatives, focusing on optimizing OR workflows, improving patient safety, and enhancing surgical outcomes. She is recognized for her contributions to reducing surgical site infections, recapturing significant revenue through process improvements, and leading a high-risk Sterile Processing Department through a successful Joint Commission inspection.
Rory’s leadership journey includes impactful roles such as Captain in the US Army and Staff Nurse in critical care and emergency surgery settings. She has a proven track record of managing complex operations, overseeing high-stakes surgical teams, and leading critical projects like the development of new training curriculums now used Army-wide.
Her dedication to clinical excellence is evident through her numerous honors and affiliations, including the DAISY Award, Nurse of the Year, and various military recognitions for patient safety and leadership. Rory is also an experienced BLS and ACLS Instructor, further showcasing her commitment to professional development and education.
In her new role at UP Health Marquette, Rory will undoubtedly bring her exceptional leadership skills, surgical expertise, and passion for patient care to drive forward advancements in perioperative services, ensuring outstanding patient outcomes and optimized OR operations.
