New Placement: Director of Surgical Services – Richard Behm, BSN, RN, CNOR
Congratulations to Richard Behm, BSN, RN, CNOR – the new Director of Surgical Services at Yuma District Hospital in Yuma, CO!
Richard Behm is a proven nursing leader with 30 years of surgical and clinical experience and over 11 years of management experience. His extensive background in nursing leadership, resource allocation, and patient management has made him an expert in driving quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and staff development.
In his most recent role as Director of Nursing at Brightstar, Richard independently managed over 100 patients and 45 staff members, significantly increasing growth and weekly income by a factor of three. Previously, he served as the Surgery Director at Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital, overseeing OR, PACU, Pre and Post Op, and SPD, as well as serving as the Director of the Specialty Clinic. His leadership was pivotal in the design and move of the entire facility in June 2020.
Richard’s career also includes roles such as Circulating RN and Surgery Nurse Educator at Upland Hills Health, OR RN/Shift Coordinator at Reedsburg Area Medical Center, and OR Circulating RN/PACU RN at St. Clare Hospital. His diverse experience spans various specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Urology, Maxillofacial, OB/GYN, and GI lab. Richard has also been instrumental in training and mentoring new staff, ensuring high standards of care and efficiency.
Richard holds a BS in Nursing from UW-Oshkosh School of Nursing.
In his new role at Yuma District Hospital, Richard will leverage his extensive experience and expertise to enhance surgical services, improve patient care, and lead his team to new heights of clinical excellence.
